Pesky Badgers!

We have been having nightly badger visits over the last week or so. They seem to of taken a liking to grubs under the turf.

I have been replacing the turf but my neighbour has given up. It took three nights to turn a presentable lawn into this.....

I'm assuming there must be more than one. I accept it as part of living in the country but it is driving my labrador nuts.

I don't think he minds the digging-its their habit of digging a small hole and then having a giant c Censored p in it!

Just installed an electric fence system around our vegetable garden. It cost about 」100 all in and seems to have worked although the guy in Mole Valley Farmers suggested that a shotgun cartridge would be cheaper. There are others in the village who have installed fences like this just because some idiot has started feeding them. Crying or Very sad

Badgers would not cause that sort of damage....more likely to be mole's. Foraging near Gaydon....

Yep, you seem to see more dead badgers by the side of the road than foxes these days.

Just indicative of more cars and a7sehole chavs driving at speed in dusky conditions unfortunately. We attend most carcass removals between March and May (cubbing season), and then again September to October, as it gets dark quicker. Badgers have appalling eyesight, and rely mostly on their sense of smell sadly, which when faced with a ton of metal hurtling towards them is seldom enough.

Shoot them at your peril. They are still a protected species, despite the cull. Given the high feeling regarding that, you would do well to stick within the confines of the law. Foraging near Gaydon....

Unfortunately until the 'cute' little animals that do gooders adore so much, start to eat the vegetables the do gooders live off, then nothing much will be done.

It's all well and good re introducing species so that the masses can view them from a distance on a weekend and feel the warm glow of satisfaction that they contributed to its return, in reality it's not evolution, I won't disagree that we are skewing evolution with our progress and destruction, on the other hand some species are actually thriving throug it.

They are definitely badgers-next door has caught them in the act. They come right up to the back door at ours so I just have to be a little careful with the dog. I tend not to let him out in the garden after dark!

Get rid of the leather jackets or chafer bugs - nematodes do the trick. No food no badger.

You will probably find that if you follow this course of action the badgers will start crapping in your garden out of spite and your lovely Lab will relish rolling in it Whistle MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
