First Towing Trip

Just returned from our first trip with Freelander towing our caravan. Very pleased. Our S Max was good at towing but I did know it was behind us. With the Freelander, it is very easy to forget that the caravan is there. As most have said, the Freelander tows very well and I am very happy with the change.

A few observations:
1) There is more engine vibration when towing when compared with S Max. Not noticeable when solo. Nothing particularly intrusive, but noticeable.
2) Although the Freelander has about 80Nm more torque than the S Max, it was not obvious. The Duratorq engine in the S Max was very good.
3) Its quite tight getting the Alko tow hitch onto the Landrover fitted detachable tow ball. Have to be careful not to rub the clamping lever on bumper when connecting.
4) Very stable at all times. Even when hitting undulations that set up slightly uncomfortable pitching in the S Max, the Freelander never felt out of shape, uncomfortable or fussed - just got on with the job.

Here is a picture of us pitched up.
