You need, as per LR instructions, an A5/B5 type of oil.
C1 and C3 should be used in DPF equipped cars.
But you can use it alright in your NON-DPF car.
The engine was originally designed to use 5W40 A3/B4 type of oil. Later, the corresponding PSA standard was B71 2296.
I, for one, am using a 5W40 type of oil. Whichever I can find, from a good/reputable manufacturer. Castrol, Mobil, Liqui Moly, etc.
Even if LR recommended A5/B5 is low HTHS, I am trying to keep the HTHS above A5 specifications, meaning above 3.5 mPa*s.
The above PSA standard requires 4.0 mPa*s. Also a high TBN in order to clean efficiently the engine interior.
