Faulty key fobs

Hi, first time on the site!

We have a FL2 TD, 5 years old, an absolutely fantastic vehicle. However over the last 2 years we have had continual issues with key fobs.

In Australia they charge about $400 to replace the key and the last one has really only lasted 12 months. Our issue tends to be they key starts to require more presses to unlock or lock the car. Now it locks all the time but will not unlock!

I have read on the blogs about the receiver maybe needing changing, is that a common cause?

How about changing the battery in the key fob?. I understand there is a method, can anybody shed some light on how to do it? I have asked around and nobody seems to know.

Thanks

Rob

Just search Fob on here and you will get lots of results, here's one for starters.

Do you swap your key fobs over every 2 months? If you don't the internal battery will go flat.
When you insert the key in the dock make sure it is always inserted buttons up or the battery wont recharge inside the key as the charging system is not reverse polarity.
There is a video on you tube that shows you how to replace the key fob battery.
