On occasion the keyfob on my wife's 58 FL2 does not seem to work correctly. It's when you put it into the dash holder, not sure whether it has been held & took in correctly. You then go to press the start button, nothing happens. Push the key back in again, starts up OK. I'm going to use the spare for a while, see if it improves matters.
Anyone else had similar issue's? Any advice would be appreciated.

yes occasionally, compare one with the other and on one side the "dodgy" one, on mine at least, is worn down a bit more. Don't know if this is the problem but I am using the spare at the moment as the car is going on the 1st Sept for a new one Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

Thanks for the info. Yes the one we were having problems with, seems a lot more worn. The current one were using now, seems better. It started this morning, without issue. I will keep the dodgy one as a spare. No doubt sometime in the future, will have to replace it. Unless I buy a new case, split it, swap everything over.
Are you going to the dealer for a replacement? Cost?

You can get replacement cases (to transfer the existing electronics into) on eBay. I can't comment on the quality, though, as I've not actually seen one.

Yes I've seen them on there too. Secondhand ones also. I'll see how it get's on with the current keyfob.
There's a seller on there, does a full refurbishment for £40. New case, battery, buttons & tested. May go with that. As theyre both quite worn now. Keep my current one as a spare.

Sent fob off to be refurbished (£40 all in).

Isn't this a bit of a risky thing to do, isn't it possible to clone the FOB? If they can they now also have your address.

Its a keyfob shop, that's all they do. So no more risky than going anywhere else to have a key coded, repaired or replaced.
Neither do you have to give your current address you live at or your car registration. Landy has now gone.
