Lost Tax Disc !!!!

Can believe what just happened. Cleaning inside of front screen I knocked my tax disc holder (magnetic) and the disc just disappeared. I am almost sure it's gone behind the back of the dash as there is a small gap there. It's 100% not anywhere else and I had seen it 10 mins before when i was washing the outside of the car. Question - is there an EASY was to access the back of the dash or should I just pay the £7 and get a replacement?

Try some thin plastic strip with something sticky on the end, paper glue or similiar, push it down, it may drag it back up.
I don't think there is an easy way of accessing that area by removing anything.

Worth a go?

I'm not sure on this but if it were me I would remove the glove box and have a poke around under the dash to see if it was there. If you search glove box on here there is a thread about removing it. I think you have to squeeze both sides in to release it, then disconnect the damper.

Shame its not close to the end of the month as come October you don't have to display the disc anymore. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Just park the car off the road until the end of September. Tax disc not required to be shown from October. Smile

Thanks all.... ended up using a large plastic tie with double sided tape...... poked around and - hey presto !!

Tried the glovebox but it doesn't get you there I'm afraid and it's open at back/bottom anyway....

Cheers

Well done on finding it.

This thread kind of answers a question I was going to ask the learned members of this good forum, so if we have an existing tax disc that isn't due to expire until sometime next year, come October can we then remove it if we wish? My wife's car had its tax renewal notice today and it said we wouldn't receive a new disc in the post.

I can remember knocking out one of the little rubber bungs under the bonnet of my first FL and it disappeared completely. Eventually found it behind the cowling on the back of the radiator. Took me hours! 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

My Road Tax expired end August. The new Tax Disc I was sent through the post looked so bad it had a letter explaining that DVLA had run down stocks due to the change in regulations and that the fuzz had been notified of the change in format. It looked as if it had literally been printed on a laser printer with no perforations and I had to revert to childhood skills and use sissors to cut it out. Never mind, only have to have the peice of tat there until October.

Big brother is watching........
I heard from a reliable source that street side fixed ANPR cameras are popping up all over West Sussex and other counties are following.

Probably have drones cruising over major roads soon!

Won't be long before the 'trafficmaster' network is used, or am I just being cynical?
