My addition of some Nordic Noir...

This weekend I picked up a Skiguard roof box. Skiguard are from Norway and make (in my opinion) the coolest (but also the most expensive) roof boxes out there. As the name suggests, they specialise in ski boxes although this one is a general cargo box. I fitted it on my Prorack Whispbars. Why fit a fugly box when you can fit a Skiguard? Wink

I would agree that it is a good looking box - but - why go to that expense unless the box is in very frequent use. Question

Sometimes due to the small capacity of the FL2's loadspace area my 2 ladies have on the very infrequent occasion wished we had more luggage space. Not wanting to go to the expense of a hard box (I always end up paying for their accessory wishes) and the associated not-in-use large storage space requirement I opted to go for the Thule Ranger 90. A "soft" totally weatherproof, and inexpensive alternative. And, when not in use it folds flat requiring much less storage space than a bag of golf clubs. Thumbs Up

I did not go to too much expense - it was less than a comparable new Thule. I found it on ebay and held out with my max "best offer" for a year! There are no UK concessionaires anyway (The NOK price is 5,500 Shocked - which is also why you are unlikely to find another outside Scandinavia) In truth, this one was a bargain when taking into account the superior build quality (GRP) compared to the abs, poly etc boxes common in UK. I previously did have a roofbag/box, admittedly not the Thule, but did not like it at all and moved it on on ebay. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Wish you all the best with the Skiguard - you crafty eBayer Cool

The Ranger 90 surprised me on our first outing as I expected it to be very noisy flapping about etc., but not a bit of it. This may have been help by the fact I also bought the special Thule individual bags (4) that are tailored to fit inside it. All at a cracking price but not off eBay. From Roland at Exeter Roofracks. Couldn't find the whole package off eBay cheaper than new from Roland. Wink

How durable the 90 is however is open to question - one swallow doesn't make a spring one might say. If it last at least 5yrs rough n tumble with my two's handling and stuffing and doesn't leak throughout that time then I'll be happy. Rolling Eyes

Know what you mean but side steps won't cut it. We invested in a collapsible step, about 18" which is just about right! From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

A good idea! Today I used the rear wheel. Gotta keep one hand for yourself though! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
