Never used the lens, SLR hut was fine though, shipped from the US, warranty is an issue but you takes your chance with that.

Do you use TalkPhotograhy.net, very good forum and a great 'for sale' section Thumbs Up

If it's new, a good price. The lens itself gives good image quality, but autofocus is slow and noisy and the front element rotates. The mount is plastic so not as durable as more expensive lenses.

Dunno what to think about plastic mounts.
Personally, mine are all metal mounts. I'd never consider plastic.
However, I did replace a plastic mount for a friend of Mrs Pegleg. The camera was in a bag on the rear floor of her car. Pushed the front seat back and the lens mount snapped off. Genuine part from Nikon was 3 quid, took 10 mins diy to fit and all was well. (Peter Jones will charge around 100 quid)

Made me think though, if the plastic bayonet mount was metal, the camera body or lens barrel might have been damaged.

I have an old Nikkor 70-210 D Type lens which has a rotating front element. Useless for 35mm film with a rotating polarizer or gradient filter. Even the contrast is poor. But the lens is sharp as hell.
None of this is a problem with digital post editing Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

If I remember correctly you can't put an EF-S lens on a teleconverter because it projects back towards the mirror. That might not be important to you. I had one of these before I graduated to L glass. For the price it's good but I'd save up and go for the best.
