To go back to the original question, if you buy a vehicle privately that already has a LR warranty, the warranty is transferable. If you buy from a dealer you need to get a new warranty. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I didn't buy my Freelander from a main dealer so I only have the sellers warranty which is very limiting. It runs out soon and I see I have 3 options -

1, run car without a warranty.

2 , use someone like warranty direct (used them for my impreza. One claim, no quibble).

3, get a LR warranty.

WD are phoning me on Wednesday with a quote.

I emailed the dealer today to enquire about cost which I assume is based on model, age and mileage?

It may of changed but when I asked I was told if it wasn't an extension on an existing used approved warranty, you had to take the Land Rover in to be checked at a Main Dealer (I was told they put it through the same checks as they do for their own used approved vehicles). This of course you have to pay for. Assuming your car is ok, you can then purchase a warranty from them. Double check with your local dealer as this was a few years ago now.

My 2013 FL2 GS SD soon to be 3 years old. LR approved ex demo. I have just received a "personalised" extended warranty brochure from LR quoting £595 for top cover or £745 inc LR assist.
Warranty direct quoted £645.
I will opt for LR @ £595 and get same breakdown cover from Green Flag for £54.00.
Good new is that 3rd annual service is Free. All FL2's (3) Gone

I bought my 2011 model two years ago (so now 5 yrs old with 69k miles) and have just received my "personalised" offer to extend my warranty for another year. Quote is £795 plus £150 for LR assist. When I tried to get a quote for the same level of cover from the AA ie European plus relay etc it came to £137. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
