EGR valve symptoms

Hi folks,

Had that issue: Engine cold, starts fine, after few meters it does not accelerate. Stopped the car, enginge stalls on idle. Hard to start and stalls again. After few attemps everything is fine again.

OBD reader showed EGR fault codes (stuck open, close, low signal etc.) I made a blanking plate and erased the codes. Codes came back and reduced power without dash warning, but driveable. Made a longer trip, cleared the faults again. After that, everything is fine now. EGR is still blanked-off. No fault codes.

Today I plugged the OBD reader and looked at the EGR position sensor voltage. On hard acceleration it's 4V (EGR closed?), on low load it goes down to 1V (EGR fully open?) ......and on idle it's about 1,5V (~80% open?).

So here's my question:
Can a fully stuck open valve causing a cold engine to stall, if it's 80% open on a warm engine anyway?
