2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Ipanema Sand
FL2 Buying second hand - Best option?

Hi

What is the general opinion here on what makes the best second hand buy in a FL2?

I was thinking XS manual or HSE in auto.
Ideally I would like full leather, Dab and Sat Nav but not deal breakers.

My feeling is lower mileage is always better if you plan on keeping it for ages (I do)
but what about the year of manufacture. Any advantage in one year other another between 2008 to say 2012?

I drove a 2012 SD4 XS Auto last week and noticed some internal differences eg terrain response knob replaced by switches. Drive was quite good with positive steering response and speed pickup quite impressive compared with my old D2.

Is the facelift model post 2011 better/more reliable or just younger and pretty much the same?
Also is the SD4 noticeably better that TD4 engine?

An earlier car won't have a DPF fitted. Depending on your type of driving ie short runs lots of stop starting then I would look towards a car without DPF.
Our car is a 60 GS with DPF, my perents have 59 GS without and there car picks up better at low revs and I think I read somewhere that earlier cars have 10 bhp more than the newer models 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8
2009 TDCi 90
2010 GS Freelander

DPF isn't an issue.

Only due short journeys most days and never had a problem.
