Water sound on switch off

I hope this is not a problem Can anybody help please.

When I switch off I hear a noise like "water going through pipes" from behind the dash. This lasts for a couple of seconds then goes.

Does anybody else hear this? Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto with Winter Pack, Stornaway Grey, Ebony, Grey Mirror Caps. Removable towbar with 13 pin Electrics

Noises in a car are allways tricky to pinpoint. Can't think of any pipes in the dashboard except the ones for air conditioning and there should be no water there.
Was the system cooling or heating before you noticed?
Did this happen more than once in the same conditions?
As the engine is not so far away it might have been the engine cooler if the cooling pump had to work after the engine stopped. FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

Hi Matei, Must be something to do with the air condioning as I don't think it happens when not running the air con. It is only apparant when switching of the engine. I have booked it into dealers to have it checked. I wonder if it anything do do with my funny smell when the air con is first switched on? No doubt I will find out when water comes out of the Vents!!! Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto with Winter Pack, Stornaway Grey, Ebony, Grey Mirror Caps. Removable towbar with 13 pin Electrics

Hopefuly not. Was you car stock? There were 32 dergrees C here and my air cond worked. Looked under the car after parking and there was no dripping. Got funny looks from the people arround and a commemmnt " see a 40.000 Eur car ( (in Romanian billion plus Romanian currency) and he has to look under the car Would have been better off with a Dacia. Probably 'towbar related' remove the towbar then see how things go. This fixes 95% of other problems too Laughing

Otherwise it does sound like an AC thing.. maybe not a fault? just a happenning?.. it will be interesting to learn the answer At work

Maybe an airlock in the heater matrix?
My 'other' motor has this prob at the moment and I hear a gurgling noise when I accelerate or switch off.
Dunno if the FL2 has a heater matrix even.......must do......surely..... Whistle

Thanks guys for the feedback my wife says I am getting paranoid about the Free2, i must be, if matei has no dripping after using his aircon at 32 Degrease C what am worrying about. As far as noises go perhaps it helps to put the radio on!

Air con seems to work otherwise plenty of cold air and plenty of hot coming out of the correct vents.
Maybe I should use the phrase I used to tell my engineers- " if it isn't faulty don't fix it"

Will post outcome on the forum if i find an answer, tried removing the towbar as recommended by CG must admit FR2 looks good with just a 13 Pin socket.

Will give it all a good test off to Cornwall then France soon, back end of July, so will not be clogging up crowded British roads.

Lets hope i don't need LR assist over there i am sure they would not be too happy to be called out for faulty aircon!!!. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto with Winter Pack, Stornaway Grey, Ebony, Grey Mirror Caps. Removable towbar with 13 pin Electrics

I get the same noises but also had it on a Ford Focus with aircon. Pretty sure it's nothing to be concerned about.

Is it an unknown noise behind the dash you are talking about or is it the normal noise that comes from the RH vent after the moter is turned off Question 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I would imagine it is the a/c coolant being pumped around the system, wouldn't be too worried TBH.
