United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

Amazed that no-one on here has any info on this Shocked

Anyway I finally got and answer from Europarts:

Quote:
This disc (104670238) is incorrect for a vehicle that has an electronic parking brake fitted. Please return that to the store for a refund or an exchange. Apologise for the inconvenience caused.

So its back to the factors again!! No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I guess not many on the forum have yet done DIY brake replacements on 2013 cars with EPB. Now you are the authority! Wink I am sure others will follow! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

2013 cars are still, in the main, under warranty and therefore left alone.
I have had new discs and pads fitted out of necessity, warranty is up in August, I would love to upgrade them but for sake of the warranty stuck with genuine parts ... for now.

Thanks Guys - just frustrated that I couldn't find the off the shelf answer I hoped for
You are right - too new and not enough experience out there yet. Could'nt claim on warranty - fair wear and tear. Not going for extended warranty so hence the DIY replacement. Pathfinder eh? Could grow on me ........... Rolling Eyes

Anyway I have finally sourced the correct parts I need - For the record here are the part numbers TO FIT CHASSIS NO DH000001 ONWARDS

Rear Disc LR Part Number LR039935 (BritPart No DA4688)

Rear Pads LR Part Number LR043285

The pre 2013 discs DO NOT FIT the later models with Electronic Parking Brake
NB EuroParts do not offer an equivalent part - their on-line part finder (and BREMBO's too) will point you to the wrong parts

Hope this helps someone else Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I'm going to do my rear discs and pads tomorrow but have to take my tools and do it away from home.

Anyone know (OP?) the spanner and socket size used to remove the calliper and calliper hanger bolts, particularly the spanner used to brace against the socket?

Want to be doubly certain I take everything needed with me Thumbs Up

You will need
rubber gloves
13mm and 15mm combi spanners (I also used the same size sockets for quicker dismantling and rebuild)
a T45 star spanner/socket (which also fits the 13mm caliper bolts
a clamp for resetting the brake piston
Some copper slip grease
Don't forget a torque wrench for tightening up afterwards
Also something to clean up the hangers, dust shield and calipers an airline is useful for that the dust gets everywhere
De-greaser for the new discs

Easy job Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

So finally got round to fitting the pads I got from Dan. Quite a simple job, straight forward and the pads, shims and bolts were as expected a good fit.
Dealer quoted "£200 ish". I queried the price as car is older than 3 years. The price came down to £179.
So for £48 from Dan, that's a nice saving for maybe a couple of leisurely hrs of work.

After MOT I've been advised my rear pads are down to 3mm and fronts similar ( 65000 mls ). Didn't say discs were bad. I'm only doing 5000 miles pa now so not sure how urgent this is.
Been quoted £250 each end and car is currently in for a rear wheel bearing costing £300, so another £250 for pads is bad news. I have done pads years ago on previous cars and see the procedure is much same even now.

Obviously official spares would be adviseable at around £50 ish (?) and I'm not worried about saving a few pence on cheap copies as against £250, but has anyone good or bad experience on replacement pads bought online or from factors .. or even official LR spares?

Do it yourself, not a difficult job and plenty of advice and how to do it guides on this forum. By the way, I would never believe the story "you need new pads " as every time it has happened to me the pads have been fine. Get the wheels off and check for yourself. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Did my rears this week on a MY13 with EHB

Firstly the motor factor handed me the wrong pads but I was able to spot this before driving off. £27.30p.

You need to set the EHB into service mode.

As for bolts and locktite, they came with new bolts but not with the correct shoulder on so re-used old bolts.

No locktite to hand so fitted back and tightened using my relevant experience of being ex-trade (click in shoulder), not expecting them to fall out but you may want to avoid me on Garowby Hill Whistle

Who remembers jags when they had soft iron wire put through and between caliper bolts ? Very Happy

The EPB (electronic parking brake) is no problem providing you put it in service mode;

Procedure is:

Ensure its in park or neutral and the park brake deactivated and ignition turned on.

1. Press and hold the parking brake switch in the release position.

2. Wait 2 seconds

3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal in the wide open throttle position.

4. Wait 2 seconds

5. Turn ignition off and on immediately whilst still finger on park button and foot on throttle.

6. An audible noise will confirm service mode, it will also be displayed on dash.

You will hear the brake motors activate for a while.

Deactivation

with ignition on.

1. Press and hold the parking brake switch in the apply position.

2. Wait 2 seconds

3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal in the wide open throttle position.

4. Wait 2 seconds

5. Turn ignition off and on again. keeping finger on park button and foot on throttle.  FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
