We have just returned from a great week in Snowdonia with the 'van. We stayed at Coed-y-Llwyn Caravan Club site at Gellilydan. It is a fantastic site which I would recommend, just a bit hard to find as it isn't signposted off the main road and is down a narrow residential road. It is set amongst the oak trees at the edge of the village.



The view is mostly great apart from the derelict nuclear power station.



A pub just over the road serving decent pub grub and a local brew from Y Bragdy Mws Piws / The Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog. Nice site, stayed twice now, first time wasn't so good, forgot to take the panels for the awning

You plonker! I just forgot all my pegs as I usually keep them in the 'van but had removed them after my last trip. I had to buy a handful at the site office.

I meant to mention that FL2s had a good showing with at least six plus one FL1 and a German reg Defender. This looked immacualate and appeared to come with a home-made trailer tent also in LR green panels with a galvanised frame. Sorry, I didn't get a pic. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Arghhh...just spotted this. I hit a low flying pigeon on the way home yesterday and he seems to have nicked the shroud off my headlamp washer. At least I got half his feathers in return.

Used to keep the Awning in three bags, Poles in one, Awning in another and all the removable panels in the third, I was called something a bit stronger than Plonker though, won't happen again, have the Fiamma Caravanstor now, always with us.

Looks a nice site bar the view of the nuclear power plant

Always leave my awning panels attached so I can't forget them and the awning goes up loads quicker without faffing about zipping them on Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I had a cracking stay at that site in May. it was hard to find somewhere to eat that did quality food rather than just fish and chips !
Found a cracking Bistro near Barmouth called Bistro Bermo , you have to book and it was £100.00 for two people but food was 1st class.
Worth googling the power station and all the people that have died in the area as a result of cancer ! TBH it was rather alarming reading all the reports and investigations into the people in the surrounding area . stay in a hotel and hey presto , food is available in the same building as are cold beers etc,

Andy, sold my awning last week on the CC forum (too much to carry and too much hard work) and just bought the 'Fiamma 3.6 metre canopy', still in the garage and will be threading it this week before going away in two weeks time.
How are you finding it ? Is it strong enough for a windy shower or do you roll it back in each time.

How do those who have the Fiamma Caravanstor find the weight in that position affects the feel of the 'van when towing?

Hasn't been a problem to me, weighed the van Friday night, it's 20kgs heavier on the near side compared to the offside, won't be a problem, you often run with your car 80kgs heavier on one side. it's only 15kgs or there or there abouts. I'm actually running at 25kgs underweight without food and clothes.

Seem,s to me this touring site has "GLOWING REPORTS " from everyone ..!

9 headed bottom feeder fish are quite common in the local waters so I am told....!!!

P.s if you have your pensioners card, ask for oldies discount , sometimes worth a cup of tea and a slice of bara brith at the top of Snowdon Don,t ask Don,t get ...  Wales
