2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black
My 2014 LR Freelander 2 Metropolis

Hello everyone,

Picked up my first LR yesterday from Hunters LR in Southampton. Very good customer service and a great dealership! I was very lucky that the 2013 Orkney Grey LR I was going to buy sold without the Southampton branch knowing. I asked about a new LR and that's when they informed me that a Santorino black Metropolis (may of not spelt it correctly) arrived a few days ago and they could transfer my deposit over to a brand new LR with 10 miles on the clock!

Well, what can I say! After trying a Q5, X3, new X-trail and Volvo XC60 nothing compared to the LR. It's outstanding, it drives so well for a big car and the refinement of the Metropolis to a HSE LUX I drove feels different. It's lovely and quiet and great on the motorway even if I'm getting 32mpg while feathering the throttle or using CC.

Even watched a DVD today while waiting for the other half to finish an exam. Sound quality and picture is excellent!

Here's a picture of the car when I picked it up and today with its first 100 miles. Can't wait for the weekend.

Regards and nice to meet you all,

Ben

Picked up my HSE LUX, 13 plate from Hunters in Garstang earlier todayfantastic customer service from them and the first time I have bought the same marque.
This car is streets ahead of my 11 plate GS, far more refine and a fantastic spec.
Off to Devon in the morning and looking forward to getting some pics down there.

How interesting, don't suppose yours has 10,000 miles by any chance and a ex management car?

Not far off, lots of 1 year old cars hitting the system, LR management cars, was a good deal for me so went for it.

Nice one Ben!
You should get around 37 once its run in (around 10K for my td4 manuanl)
Make sure you get your free half day "how to drive off road" course from Land Rover. You should get a letter from the factory soon. If not, chase. Go to Eastnor Castle venue - spiritual home of LR off road testing.
Then you can get it muddy! Its too shiny! Rolling with laughter Whistle * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

I have already been told I should expect a letter from LR about an experience day soon, however my car is staying clean I have already hoovered it with my new £9.99 purchase from Lidl! If anyone is interested in a portable Hoover get down to Lidls, it plugs into the 12v socket and it's brilliant.

On the not so good side my speakers have just started to crackle on every radio station at any volume. Not best pleased. Anyone know if this is a fault or standard due to the car being new?

You may not get an invite unless the Dealer puts his hand in his pocket, it changed just over a year ago, new vehicles only now.

It's a brand new car and from my understanding and what I've been told Land Rover pay for it. Smile

Nice car, but with the exception of the carpets maybe being thicker, the Metrolpolis and HSE Lux are built to the exact same specification. That is a fact given by one of the guys from Halewood.

It's only here and Russia that have the Metropolos badge. Everywhere it's called HSE Luxury.

I have driven a Metropolis, and apart from the fact it was brand new so will always feel 'newer' there was no difference what so ever.

Still a very nice car all the same! Thumbs Up Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Whistle its just the name, that i feel doesn't suit the car....
Why call a 4X4 a city car ?
I don't expect Land Rover to go that route !

Metropolis | Define Metropolis at Dictionary.com

Metropolis definition, any large, busy city.

Land Rover have used Metropolis in the past the Discovery 2 back around 2002/2003 as it was coming to the end of the line.
Again in 2006 on the Discovery 3.

I spoke with the guys at Halewood about the Metropolis name being used, and they said to me that going from HSE Lux, to HSE Luxury was not a big enough change for the run out model.

Not sure if I like the Metropolis name, but change is always good! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
