Evoque keyless entry

I work with my wifes family, the wife's uncle has got an Evoque. Today he managed to lock his key in the boot. I had to take him home for his spare key. He swears blind that you shouldn't be able to lock your keys in the boot with keyless entry? Anyone else came across this?? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I have keyless on my RRS, and it picks up the signal from several sensors within the area of each door and tailgate. If I walk towards the the drivers door then it will unlock that door but the passenger would not be able to open their door before I have released them. I would say depending on where the keys were it is quite possible to lock yourself out with the key fob inside. You have to remember that when inside you wouldn't want others outside to be able to just open the doors and get in.

The keyless entry on the D4 won't allow you to lock the keys in the back, I closed the Tailgate on my keys laid in the back, it just pops the Tailgate open again, would have thought the Ewoky would do the same. Same as if I leave the keys in the door pocket it won't let me lock the doors, it just gives the beep beep error.

Mine is a 2010 model, so maybe things have been updated.

You do have to be quite close, if I try to lock the drivers door whilst stood with my right side to the door, with the keys in the left pocket it won't lock on the handle, just get the beep error, turn to front to the door it will lock.

A customer managed to lock her keys in her D4 a couple of weeks ago, locked the car, opened tailgate, dropped keys into boot and closed tailgate and car locked. Took man from AA about 10 minutes to gain access. Apparently it's quite easy if the keys are in the vehicle and verging on impossible if they're not.

As posted, mine won't lock, shut the Tailgate and it pops open to the second latch till you remove the keys then it will close and lock.

If you just use the tailgate button, the car will lock again once you close the tailgate. If you use the "unlock" button it should not lock, as far as I'm aware. I never use the tailgate button, as it caused battery problems on my previous car (failed to shut down properly, flat battery). This is another reason not to use it! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
