Rear diff problem?.

Not sure if I have the dreaded diff problem or not, I have a thud thud thud noise apparently from the back which is road speed related.
Done a search and most others are reporting a whine or drone but as said mine doesn't sound like that.
Have taken it to my local general repair shop owned by a neighbour and they diagnosed bearing whine but I am still not convinced so will take it to my local Indy for a second opinion.
Any chance it could be a wheel bearing or even handbrake shoes?.
Just fitted 4 new tyres to eliminate that as a possible cause but had no effect.
Any advice gratefully accepted. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

To possibly eliminate wheel bearing jack it up and roll the wheel by hand. Anything other than silky smooth is likely to be a worn bearing. Any heavy grinding or scratching will be likely brake troubles

I have had many cars where it was actually the tyre at fault either a flat spot, bad tread, etc try swapping front to back and see if the noise changes corners

If these eliminate or show symptoms you mention it may help you self diagnose the problem
Whines tend to be bearings or shafts or gearbox, rumbles and clunks - bearings or tyres or suspension, and grinding or scratching - brakes
Hope u get it sorted ASAP - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

If my wife ever sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for it, there will be some bargains out there!
