United States 2008 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
P2404 Error Code

I recently returned from a 700 mile road trip up into the mountains in the eastern US and found that my 2008 LR2 HSE (petrol) was sporting a jaunty yellow CEL. I popped in the OBD reader (ELM327 via Torque Android App) and it spat out the following code:
P2404 - Evaporative Emission System Leak Detect Pump Sensor Circuit High Range/Performance.

There is surprisingly little information to be gleaned from the Almighty Google, so I put the question to you kind folk... what gives?

It's still under the extended warranty, so I will likely just schedule a service visit tomorrow, but I'd like to understand my vehicle a bit...

Edit: FWIW, the light has been on for a few days. I have verified the gas cap is secured (I would have felt quite the knob if that had been it), and I've about a half a tank in the vehicle.

England 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

Sorry can't help, just put the code into Bell Auto Services site and it came up with the same answer.
I'm sure someone more intelligent than me will be along soon with more information. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Loire Blue

This May Help.

P2404 - EVAP Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit: Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON

Possible Causes
Faulty Leak Detection Pump (V144)
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister System leaking pressure

Possible Solutions
Test Leak Detection Pump (V144) and it's wiring, see repair manual
Pressure test Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister System for leaks, see repair manual

Your particular fault relates to a fault with the pressure switch in the Evap canister which triggers a high range as the switch is not directing the fuel vapour to the intake manifold where it should be burned off to lower emissions.

It just so happens that I am, in fact, a knob.

I filled the tank yesterday with 93 octane and tightened down the cap. Next I had a bit of insight and started the engine, then stopped it, logged into Torque, cleared the code, ejected the key, reinserted the key, started her up...

And no CEL.
