Future of Freel2.com?

Just wondered what is planned re: the future of this valuable & well supported forum in 2015, once the LR Discovery Sport is on sale and on the road?

Will it "embrace" the Freelander 2 replacement as a subset of this forum, or stay strictly for LR Freelander 2 discussions? Life is not a dress rehearsal!

I did suggest a section for all makes of 4x4's which should possibly be the answer. The Nissan Xtrail forum managers have deserted the site so no one can join, which is why I would like this addition .Xtrail comming on 1 sept 2014 Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

ha xtrail.com you made your forum free anti britain bed so lie in it, hope the bed bugs bite . ( said in jest)

I think martin will make a new forum disco sport.com as when evoque spawned, If he calls it the DS forum I will personally do a Liam Nesson on him,

shame really as fl2 and discosport owners should intermingle as they considered making the move

This forum in my mind is about interaction of owners with a Landrover, modifications, faults, experiences etc. Just why the insertion of a non LR vehicle section into this Forum makes any sense is beyond me. Confused

If someone chooses to leave the marque then by all means pop back and tell how you are getting on, but to want your own section, my flabber is ghasted Shocked

The FL2 will still be popular for a few years to come yet with many buying into the second hand market, so will remain a talking point for quite some time. I think with such a radical step with the new model a separate Forum makes sense or integration until it kicks off in popularity.

I daresay that a former 'contributor' from Surrey has already thought of that. Come to think of it, it would probably suit him completely!! Rolling with laughter

the freelander 2 will still be around for many years to come, people buying a last of the run off edtions will still look for forum in their hour of need

if he does, make a discosport forum, then thats natural progression, after all the freelander is then only a memory

personally i don't think we need sub forms for all car makes though, not unless they are associated by brand Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

agree

Think I agree with most of you; find a way to accommodate changes in the LR model offerings, but certainly not to broaden it out to other 4x4 & SUV manufacturers. Razz Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Why not merge them all keeping the domain names... As long as caravan talk is kept to a minimum I would have no probs as I have an intrest in LR and not just the freelander

My personal view is not to make a 4x4 forum or even an Land Rover forum for that matter, iv'e seen the back biting on other forums where a Freelander is regarded as a very poor relation and unless you are in a modified Defender and want to be up to your armpits in mud, your even ignored.
It takes a certain owner to have a Land Rover, we have seen a few come on here, buy one, try to run it on a shoestring, spend their hard earned on some bling, then moan when they need Discs and Pads.
The Land Rover brand covers many ranges and walks of life, if what you read is true, the range is going to get much bigger.

I think the forum should stay as the emphasis will change. The waxing and claybar fetishists will soon be getting their upgrades and migrating to a new DS site, while Freel2 will gradually revert to servicing and maintenance matters ( a bit like Landyzone) for those with ageing vehicles. After all, we don't discuss the Evoque on here (well not much) even though it's a very similar, if somewhat inferior, motor, or the FR1, which has the same name but is a totally different motor, so why discuss the DS? Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Fair point regarding the Evoque, before it's launch it was mentioned quite a bit but since, it has virtually disappeared, same with the new RRS also, hardly gets a mention now.

emmmm

emmmm ……. not sure the Evoque parallel quite holds. After all the DS is going to be the replacement for the excellent Freelander2. Whereas the Evoque was ……….. errrr …….. a blingy new model borne out of a concept car that appealed most to previous non LR owners, or aspiring RR owners who couldn't afford one.

As there are already forums for RR, Disco (& I assume Defender) this should logically be just Freelander2 or Freelander2 & DS only. Simple! Razz Life is not a dress rehearsal!
