Hi everyone. For those of you that have had pre-2011 and post 2011 Freelanders would you say there is much of a difference between the two versions? i.e is it worth spending the extra £5k or so upgrading or are they very similar? I'm comparing the difference in engine/drive smoothness or quietness etc rather than cosmetics.

The 2011 model is nice, and a little nicer to drive than the 2007, but if budget allows, wait and go for a 2013 facelift as the whole technology side of things is better, along with a nicer drive, quieter, smoother etc. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. I've had an 07, 61 and 13 and they were incrementally better but I agree that the 13 changes improved the car very much. However the 61 plate was definately a better drive (tighter) than the 07. |

if the cars really have got better what has changed? I thought they are all the same under the skin. Or is it simply that a newer car with less miles will feel better? I can't fault my MY07 HSE but it only has 30k on it. |

Can't really explain it but it was definitely better. Mileage was always lower on newer model though. |

Do you mean the mpg is actually worse on the newer cars? |

No. I mean the newer cars had covered less miles. Mpg was fairly comparable 61 & 13. |

Thanks for the advice, I'd love a 2013 so might wait a few years for that one.

Aha! Perhaps that's the reason they feel better. |
