Am now approaching 3 years of Freelander ownership. What a delightful car it has been to own. The total number of issues has been ZERO - not the slightest, tiniest of glitches. It has been absolutely faultless and dependable.

I now need to order a new company car in time for December when the Freelander will go back. I would have loved the new 7 seater Version (Disco Sport), but that will be too late for me and I don't want to make alternative arrangements now while there is so little information.

I also strongly considered the current Discovery, but it would mean having a pretty low spec. After looking around it occurs to me that the best value for money in this class is the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Never thought I would be in for an American car, but it is loaded with features, roomy, stylish, good to drive, and does everything I need. With the discounts on offer it is actually amazing value for money.

So that's it - Jeep ordered for December.

BUT do not forget to activate the sat distress button on the JEEP sat nav when the snow arrives
loads of special Freelanders and the odd emergency doc(somewhere in Switzerland ) will be there to pull you out  Wales
Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.

^ Aren't winter tyres compulsory in Switzerland? If so, the Jeep should be fine. Jeep's aren't my cup of tea but I think the latest versions are at least better made than the older one's. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Winter tyres are not compulsory in Switzerland.

However, if you do not fit them during the "winter" months and your vehicle is involved in a road traffic accident the police attending the incident (all traffic accidents involving more than one vehicle/road user, or, involving other persons are attended by the police) they, the police, will determine that your vehicle was in an "unroadworthy" condition and therefore any penalty will automatically be increased. Furthermore, having received from the police an unroadworthy report on the incident your vehicle's insurers will either fully decline any claim or substantially reduce their liability on your claim.

If her Ladyship is on "emergency" call-out duty and you are in Kantone Glarus she may well indeed arrive in her FL2.
