Another question......

Some seem to say that Riv nuts and tool are needed and I'm sure some say that they use existing places to mount them? Black FL2

Cant see anything wrong with the one you link to but I recently fitted the set from Powerful UK (http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/land-rover-freelander-2-exterior/land-rover-freelander-2-factory-style-side-steps---diy-tool-kit-lr002773.html). The big advantage here is that, apart from an electric drill (needed to drill holes in the plastic sill cover - a suitable sized drill bit IS included)), the kit provides everything you need including most importantly the tool for inserting the six treaded bushes that have to be fitted (all other hoiles are threded) & a tool for removing the "poppers" that attach the plastic sill covers ( still mullahed most of mine!). Their website also links to uTube fitting guide videos. Recommended. From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

The powerfuluk fitting-tool kit is an optional extra - much cheaper without the kit. Steve

You do need rivnut and they are supplied. I fitted my rivnuts by using a longish (40-50mm?) 6mm bolt, nut and washer. Screwed the nut right onto the bolt, fitted the washer, screwed the bolt into the rivnut, inserted the rivnut into the pre-drilled hole in the sill, held the bolt still and tightened the nut until the rivnut crushed up and locked into place. Then remove the bolt. Repeat. 3 each side. Job done. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I tried the DIY method of securing the rivnuts, without much success. I took the car and the rivnuts to my local independent LR garage and they fitted them for me free of charge, but that's just the kind of guys they are. Go Greenbank 4X4!

Apart from that, the mid priced Ebay steps I bought do the job. Only got them because SHMBO is a midget and wore me down to put them on the car. Whistle garioch43
