SD cards don't last forever, although there is no moving parts they do wear out and become unusable, the card in the blackvue is constantly writing a lot of data.

Pretty much what has been said - Like SDD drives SD cards are solid memory with lots of physical switches to store data ( 1s and 0s ).... after a while these ware out which is why the algorithms in big drives for even use is important.

sad cards used to have a small sliding switch on one edge to make them secure, hence the name-Secure Digital -SD so it might have been accidentally switched to this to prevent deletion of data |

It's a micro sD card, tried switch on the adapter and also in a none switchable adapter, still no joy |
