United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver
Heavy Power Steering

My wife has noticed her 09 GS has developed heavy power steering over the last two days, I tried it tonight after making sure that the fluid level was full and the tyres at correct pressure, the steering feels unassisted and there us a low growling noise when I turn the wheel, so,

1) would replacing the bottle and flushing the system with new fluid, be beneficial ?

2) if I did that and there was no benefit is it a pump replacement or the rack,

3) we've had the 3 years ( bought at 2 years old) and it now has 40k on it FLRSH , would LandRover contribute to the repair if it was a big one , she is a 20 year LR customer .

Any advice welcome ,

You could try changing the Reservoir and Gauze and Flushing, sooner the better. Might scupper any chance of assistance from LR though, Rock and a Hard Place.

Rack.

In May 2014 I purchased a FL2 SE Auto 08 plate, after a month of driving I started to find that the steering was heavy when parking or doing a 3point turn.

Took in back to the dealer (none land rover) and they initially replaced the power steering reservoir and changed the fluid, advised if it should continue to arrange for it to go back in again. This time for the power steering rack and pump to be changed.

Guess what its in now getting it done. Current Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto
