Cyprus 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Tambora Flame
How do I know....

Hi,

Taken delivery of my Freelander 2 GS TD4 - so far so good.

However I don't know if it has:
a) automatically dipping mirrors when reverse is engaged (they don't!)?
b) windows that stop if an obstruction gets in the way (they don't either)?

If these are standard do you need to activate them - if so how?

Now a couple of observations about my car...
It's tambura flame but has no wood trim inside.
I had the previous model before which I thought was great, but this is so much better. Contrary to other postings though, my 6'1 son had more legroom in the back of the previous model even behind me with my seat fully back.

Had the car 6 days - done 460miles and I LOVE IT.

Hope some of you can help me with the above.

Thanks
Skelly

Hi Skelly,

congratulations with your new FL2 ! Thumbs Up
In the Belgian price list it is said that you get that mirror function only together with the memory function for electrical seat positioning. (don't know about other countries)

Hi Skelly

I have a GS in the UK, I too was expecting the door mirrors to dip when reverse is engaged, I was told that by a salesperson !!!! However I've mentioned it here on the forums previously and it seems it is only a feature on top end models.

I haven't tested the auto stop on the windows (think its called anti-trap), but would hope that is a feature on all models, after all a kid could get in any model.

just checked the handbook and anti trap should work on all four windows (although it does carry the warning that even with anti trap there is still a risk of serious injury or death!)

Having read the book I now realize there is another gremlin in my car; the book states that all four windows have one shot open AND one shot close, mine only work on open !

I guess that it should be fairly easy to check if you have anti trap: just 'hit' smoothly your window as it closes and it should retract by a few cm's. It causes no problem to the window mechanism and you'll make sure you have anti-trap installed. At least this used to work with an old opel vectra i used to have.

Thanks for all the info.

Tested the anti trap mechanism and it seems to be working. By the way all four windows have auto lowering & raising on mine Smile

There is a section in the handbook on re-setting the window. I followed the instructions. Hey presto it works .... all four windows operate one shot down & one shot up.
