Probably your tyres I have wranglers on mine and they are very noisy. I have the same symptoms as you try driving on different road surfaces and see if the noise changes. |

Silly question but does it have roof bars ? My old freelander had OEM roof bars fitted and they were a rough fit. They hummed like mad at speed and the humming varied with the speed. I thought it was transmission until someone suggested it. It sounds very much like you problem. |

We fitted General Grabber AT's and have found there to be a whine which has been put down to the harder compound however I did start to think it was the rear diff. 2007 LR Freelander 2 GS - factory tints, LR mud flaps, 2013 facelift)

No there is no roof rack, and the problem has now been fixed. No wheel bearing and rear diff was shot and has been replaced by the dealer. |
