New Freelander 2 HST!

Good evening truckers.... Thumbs Up

This is my 1st posting here on Freel2 although I have been a member of Disco3.co.uk for quite a while!

I thought i'd just drop by and leave a little information I picked up today while at my local dealers and the VERY helpful saleman was just handed a LR News Sheet... and he let me see the press release and pic's of the soon to be released new Freelander 2 HST model!?
Now, maybe this isn't news to you knowledgable people out there, but if it is, I thought it good to let you know!

BTW - It will cost £32,000+ and will be available from late Feb/early Mar '08.... and looks just like the RRS HST with very similer body kit and twin 'square' exhausts! Didn't get the engine spec. but sure to be nippy!?

TTFN....

FREELANDER 2 HST TOPS THE RANGE

Gaydon, Warwickshire, 5 February 2008 – Land Rover will introduce a new 'HST' derivative to complete the Freelander 2 range.

On-sale from March 2008, the Freelander 2 HST will be available from £31,990 on the road. Features include a Sports Styling Pack with front and rear bumper aprons, side sill mouldings and a rear roof spoiler. Other enhancements include 19 inch alloy 10-spoke wheels with shadowchrome finish, leather seat facings, privacy glass and metallic paint.

John Edwards, managing director for Land Rover UK commented: "The Freelander 2 HST has an impressive muscular stance when seen on the road. It will undoubtedly be appealing to our customers who require a dramatic visual impact without compromising on practicality."

He added: "In 2007 the Freelander 2 sold over 18,000 units in the UK which helped contribute to sales in the UK exceeding 50,000 last year for the first time in the company's 60 year history."

It's a different tail pipe, comes as part of the body kit but can be bought separately. I think the part number is LR003924 in another thread.

Saw a Nazca Sand HST I6 in the town centre in Stirling today and then later the same car was in the car park at Morrison's Land Rover. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Snappa & Tim, did it have rectangular tail pipes on the HST you saw? The press releases make no mention of the exhaust but the LR website does, so do the exhausts exit through it rather than under it......like the RRS HST??????

Or is it just the standard sport kit exhaust tails used? If not then I am guessing whilst the front bumper looks to have remained the same maybe the rear is different to allow the exhausts to go through it...

I'm not sure what the HST is supposed to be. Same engine as normal and a rather OTT body kit in my opinion Exclamation At work

Gamba do you really expect me to be looking at the rear end of an HST Freelander2 when I'm leaving it for dead in my TDv8 .................................. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
I must admit that I never looked as I whizzed passed, or when I saw it again at the dealers. Maybe Charles Hurst's can tell us. On the RRS HST the pipes exit through the rear valance rather than hanging down below the bumper How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
