This is no different to the life cycle of (for example) the family size Fords

True. The difference is that as Ford moved models up market they introduced new models to fill the gap - Escort moved up and made room for Fiesta, which in turn moved up and made room for Ka, etc.

LR will do this eventually, with Defender and a potential new small Sport, but the reality is that come the end of next year there will be nothing below the Sport, probably for as much as 2-3 years. And the gap left when FL2 succeeded FL1 never was filled.

As I've said elsewhere, for the company this isn't a problem as the money is in the top end of the market (so long as urban 4x4s remain fashionable), but for those who want an affordable LR it's not good news.

I think the Evoque was the true replacement for the FL2, okay its not as practical boot wise and its a RR not a LR but size-wise its very similar to the FL2 and the option of 3 and 5 doors made it a similar setup to the original Freelander.

Just imagine if the Evoque was only just being released and was called the FL3 - people would be foaming at the mouth!! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit

For anyone fortunate enough to have taken Mike @ LR up on his offer of complimentary tickets for the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the new Discovery Concept will be on display in the Land Rover Hospitality enclosure. I for one am looking forward to having a good nose at it, and will try and post some pictures at the end of the weekend.
Friends that are down for the weekend went to the show during the week and took a few pictures, tyres which are probably one offs have the word discovery cut into the tread, and he was told the suicide doors will definately will not make production.

Aimed at a totally different type of customer. I think it is a figure of about 70% of Evoque owners are new to the LR brand. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Make the most of it, the Freelander will be phased out end of the year and the Discovery Sport will take its place.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

I was a passenger in a Metropolis on Saturday morning for a short trip to Stockton (neighbour works at Gaydon and bought one home for the weekend), and it seemed a lot quieter in the cabin to my HSE Lux. Don't know if they've changed anything specifically to warrant that, as the carpet felt similar to mine. Other than that notable point, no difference. Side by side, the Loire Blue definitely has a purple tint over Baltic Blue when the sunlight is directly upon both. Foraging near Gaydon....

I was on site yesterday at LR and have asked the question about interior spec, and have been told there is no difference in what was put in the HSE Lux and the Metropolis. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Yes that's true but at nearly 4 grand cheaper than the HSE Lux, a veritable bargain methinks
that's why we have one on order. Laughing Hit it he said, Hit it!--So I hit it, then he hit me---Doh!

I have just taken a year old HSE LUX, it's a big difference from my previous car, a MY11 one of the first facelift cars.
This one is markedly quieter and quite a bit smoother, it also feels much more taught but granted it has 70k miles less so should do.
The 8.5 weeks will come soon enough and then simply enjoy, it's great Thumbs Up
