Which Oil

I know this topic will have been done to death but I am trying to find a black & white answer.

I need to do an oil change & I can't find oil locally that meets the spec!

I spoke to the castrol tech tech rep & he told me Magnatec Professional 5w-30, order 20lt drum at Repco.

Just went to local Repco & response was 'Castrol won't sell it to us', really helpful bunch...not!

Please, who uses what in their 2008 2.2 TD4 engines?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

the good oil

Badger
I use castrol magnitec profesional 5w 40 as this is what the original dealer used and it works well up here in the top end where daytime temps seldom get below 30 and up to 45 plus if I am in the kimberly. I buy the oil from a castrol depot or agent and he usually has to order it for me but noticed the other week that supercheap had 10 ltr containers of magnatec 5w 40 diesel and I think the specs are the same but need to check. It was about the same price of $ 10/LTR .I also buy my filter kits from the UK as even with their outrages postage OEM filter kits are less than 1/2 price . If you are interested pm me and I will give you the details and save you a bit of time scabbing around on google Doug

Thanks Doug,

I've managed to locate the local castrol agent & they're prepared to order it for me.

Already have stocks of filters, been down that road with the '98 Freelander!!

oil pump

Nick
If you dont already have a 20 ltr drum pump it is a good investiment as it keeps the drum sealed, oil clean and it is much easier to decant oil into engine .
