oil and filters changed

changed the oil and filter yesterday, found removing the oil filter straightforward using the ratchet spanner.

hardest bit was removing the old filter from the casing !! it was stuck really firmly ?

also it looked really dirty, and it makes me wonder if it has actually been changed on dealer services.

also the air filter and pollen filter were filthy.

can anyone comment on the state of their filters on removal ?

I bought mine last December from a main dealer and as part of the deal they were going to service it for me.Back in march I decided I would do it again,so I dropped the oil and filter out which were very dirty and I also replaced the air and pollen filter and they were also filthy dirty.no way had they been changed and at that time I had only done 300 miles in it.i wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't changed it on yours.

After 15,000 miles, the air filter was dirty but not filthy and I'd have left it in for another 15,000 if I hadn't already bought a replacement.

The pollen filter was covered in a thick layer of dust. It was also fitted the wrong way around and was slightly crushed (as it is a pig to fit). I did wonder if it had been in there for more than 15,000.

Can't comment on the oil filter as I get someone else to do that. 2010 Freelander 2 HSE Auto Santorini Black / Ebony Leather

When my fl2 was three years old I changed all of the filters and none of them were very dirty but on the pollen filter there was a manufacturing date which made it quite clear that it had been changed at the last service.
I also had a vey difficult time trying to prime the fuel filter eventually the fuel tank was pressurised with an air line and hy presto fuel appeared

Re: oil and filters changed

Iain,
I changed the wifes 58, FL2 pollen filter, 1 year (5k). On from a main dealer service (should have inc filters). Was black. I also chaged the air filter, was totally gunged up too. DIY servicing now on for me Thumbs Up
I don't think the air filter had been changed for a long time, even though the FL2 had a fsh, mainly dealer. Looking back through the service history. Landy has now gone.

yes Boroboy it is enlightening !!

I think we are paying a lot of money for a car wash ( even that is a bit iffy ) and an oil change Rolling Eyes
