yeah you can overtake the caravan if you can get near it.

Usually here there is a queue of about 40 pensioners behind the caravan......... Whistle

Maybe I've got this wrong but as I understand it, the '85% rule' relates to 85% of the kerb weight of the towing vehicle, not 85% of what it can technically pull. If you tow something heavier than the towing vehicle there is a huge danger of the tail wagging the dog. Just found this from the Caravan Club:-

Outfit/weight ratio

Q What does The Club recommend as a safe outfit weight ratio for towing a caravan?
A The principle must be to have the heaviest possible towcar for a given caravan, otherwise the chances of a swaying trailer becoming uncontrollable and snaking are very real. Aim for a towed load 85% of the car’s kerb weight (KW), or the vehicle
1
manufacturer’s towing limit, if lower. The nearer the caravan laden weight approaches the one-to-one ratio, the more careful the driver must be. Remember that the towed weight is the actual laden weight (ALW) that the car is asked to pull (empty weight of caravan plus what you add), not the theoretical Maximum Authorised Weight (MAW) or (from 1999 production models) Maximum Technically Permissible Laden Mass (MTPLM).

Oops - I somehow 'quoted' myself!

Matei - I don't doubt what you say but to me what the Caravan Club says makes sense. 2000kg is 2-300kg heavier than the F2! The towing vehicle should at the very least be the same weight as the load behind it but preferably more. I've seen mismatched and badly loaded outfits trundling down the motorway and they are an accident waiting to happen. They are the ones who give CG his ammunition!

What I am saying is that legally over here I can tow 2000 Kg , this does not mean that it is recomended.
I would rather say that the 85% rule applies to the max load of 2505 Kg FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

That looks like a good option. I also happened across the "Elddis Crusader Superstorm". Which seems to have two sets up bunks in a rear bedroom which might be good.

I think we just need to get down to some caravan dealers and see what we like.

My has the similar layout to what avtur showed you, there is also vans out there that have a rear dining table that makes into a double bed, with a bunk above, this style normally have a door the section the kids computer/board games noise away from the adults drinking up front on the seats that make another double bed. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Presumably there's a reason that both you and the tractor are driving round the roundabout the wrong way to what the chevrons indicate? Smile
