Key fob stuck half way in

Hi

I have tried to find a thread on this but my key fob intermittently gets stuck half way out/in. I can push back in and engine starts fine, I turn off button and when pressed key cartridge doesn't eject so I can't get it out. It's like it's caught on something but can't figure what. It is causing me all sorts of problems.

Can anyone help or explain please

Many thanks

Stef

Mine ended up getting stuck in there. If i pulled it out the car thought it was still there and would start with no key in it. I also couldn't lock the doors with the fob because the car thought it was in the ignition. They repaced the whole fob mechanism but cost $900.
