Yes, normally it does.
But there is an workaround way, by launching softwaredownload.htm from the \Program Files\JLR\IDS\Runtime\ folder.
Don't get me wrong, but if you have no experience with flashing, better don't do it... You can mess things up... Do it at your own risk! Don't hold me responsible if something will go wrong.

Below are the steps that can be used for flashing modules with SDD.
It's a workaround solution that's allowing you to flash whichever module you want with whichever firmware you want.
So it's a very powerful and in the same time dangerous procedure if not done properly, because there are no foolproof checks.
Meaning you should know exactly what you do, what you program/flash and where and in which conditions.
Two important things are:
1. You must have a battery conditioner connected when you do it to maintain at least 12.6V on the system
2. The engine must be OFF.
Again, be very, very, very, very careful with this stuff....

And another thing:
The instruments are one of the few, if not the only one ECU on the car, that, sometimes (not always), gives an error when trying to erase the internal flash.
Meaning it timeouts when calling the erase flash functions. But the erase is done OK. Only the response/confirmation is not sent back from the cluster.
The SDD don't know how to handle this and throws a timeout error. And, of course, it stops the process and you'll have a "blank" flash and the car will be immobilized.
Don't panic, try again and it will work.

Double click on softwaredownload.htm in the folder \Program Files\JLR\IDS\Runtime\

Select Land Rover, enter VIN and press OK

Select the corresponding car/year and press OK.

Next a lot of questions will be asked for building a skeleton CCF.
Launching softwaredownload is an unorthodox/workaround method for using some of the SDD's functions.
For sure you'll see that when launching softwaredownload there will be no information collection like on the normal use.
SDD sees that it doesn't have any CCF information and therefore it asks for them directly.
As a side note, I don't recommend at all using softwaredownload method for handling CCF functions. You'll end up with a messed up CCF.
Edit CCF only through normal ways. Use softwaredownload only if needed, and only for forced flashing.

Click "User preferences"

Select Engineering mode and press OK.

On the right now there are two more buttons. Press "Module reprogramming"

Have (a lot of) patience when the whole firmware database is read.

See the whole database and select the IPC (instruments) group. Double click on "+" sign for this.

Tick the corresponding set of files and press OK.
AH52-10849-FD group for diesel or AH52-10849-DD group for gasoline.
Previously, you replaced the necessary files with the modified ones.

The flashing process will begin.

I was using, at that time, an old SDD version 131.
Do you use a newer version?
Maybe this could be the reason?

Hi alex, I'm a panozzz's friend (Claudio of Milan). I tried to send you a pm, but I can't because I'm a new member to this group.
I need urgent advice regarding the activation of the TR, for whose configuration I am well under way. If you want to give me some help I'll be grateful to you for life. I send you my e-mail and, if you wish, send me an empty message to which I will reply and provide you with any useful details: joefreelander@alice.it

P.S. This is a challenge that I must win. I'm already using SDD and have implemented electrically foldable mirrors with puddle light and light outer mirrors (which I didn't have).

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Rimini Red

Has anyone in the UK done this mod as described in detail on page 3 of this thread? I ask because I’ve done it and now have the clock in the instrument cluster, etc., but the odometer and trip distance in the display in the speedometer are now in kilometres. I’ve tried the SDD function to set the fuel consumption units but this doesn’t change these two distance displays.

Can anyone suggest how to get them back to miles?

And the solution is ...

I had flashed the instrument cluster using the FD group of files which, of course, are diesel and kilometres. Knowing that the DD group was petrol and kilometres I made a calculated guess that the ED group would be diesel and miles and so it turned out. It’s always a bit nerve wracking playing around with engineering mode and one keeps one's fingers crossed while it goes about its business. Thankfully when finished I found that my odometer had reverted to miles and all the elements in the instrument cluster were still there in miles and gallons (and volts!) plus, of course, the clock.

Thank you Alex

In the file titles of this link https://yadi.sk/d/U7N6bA88e5G7T it says so

V5. Скорость без температуры
V6. скорость и линейная температура

V5. Speed without temperature
V6. speed and linear temperature

It says the opposite

It may be an error there. You should read the descriptions (txt files) inside the folders.
You should also read my descriptions in the first post of this topic... I should know better. Laughing
Although, it was more than 5 years ago and I may be far removed from the truth... Laughing
