Removing engine shield

My engine shield bolts are as tight as a tight thing, can I use heat on the bolts to loosen them? Thanks.

You could use some heat from the top side or give it a smack with a hammer a few times to brake the rust/seal

On another note, does anyone know what size they are, the heads 13mm I think. Tried to remove mine earlier in the year to get a screw out that got dropped and one of the bolts is missing so need to replace it Rolling Eyes Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

When I first removed mine they were very tight even though the dealer said they had serviced it 2 months earlier.A 2ft bar on the breaker bar sorted it out with a 6 sided socket.

I've always used a 3/8" drive impact gun on mine and they've been off three times in the last year so still loose. Mind you, they were tight the first time so I greased the threads when refitting.

Thanks guys, I have shifted 4 out of 6 but the other 2 are just stubborn Censored I think I may have to grind off and tap new threads, at least that may save chiropractor expense!!

Thanks guys for all the assistance, as per the other post the engine shield has now left the freelander! Good news is no tapping required just need two new bolts which were ground off and hopefully I can reuse the fold over clips, but I will be calling Duckworths in the morning anyway. Thumbs Up

More like they didn't do the service,in those 2 months I covered less than 150 miles and the oil and filter was filthy dirty it certainly hadn't covered 150 miles.
