If its camshaft then that is serious. The lower cost and more reliable option may be a second hand engine. I was in that situation, I bought a virtually new engine for £1900 did the swap myself and then sold the old engine via eBay in chunks and got back £1200, and I've still got other parts yet to sell.

I was quite surprised when at the dealers, a brand new Discovery was there body off chassis, they said its easy to work on the gearbox that way and saves much time, and the body is only held on by I think they said 12 bolts? Certainly easy to do an engine swop without the body in the way, and you wont risk scratching it, but the FL2 hasnt a separate chassis I know that. |

For the FL Topix has you draining the autobox, draining the aircon, the power steering, undoing all if their pipes, taking the suspension off, all the driveshafts; then removing the subframe.... It goes on and on.

Thanks for all your replies, sounds like a long weekend with the spanners and a replacement engine. Thanks again, I'll let you know how I get on. |
