Retro fit of Sony NV - U92TC Sat Nav to Freelander 2

Hi

Could anyone please help me with how to fit a Sony sat nav in the cubby hole of my Freelander 2 2007.

I have read several posts and watched videos but can anyone talk me through how to hard wire it please?

Should I hard wire to the Auxiliary power socket at the back of the centre console?

How should I wire it up to the speakers on the radio?

Also where could I get a surround for the sat nav so that it looks neat?

Thanks

You need to search / research more Rolling Eyes

Hardwire a 12v cigarette socket to Fuse 5 in the passenger fusebox. Take the earth from behind the glovebox (yes, you'll have to remove it to do that. Search). Run the power lead behind the dash to your satnav.

Assuming your Sony satnav has an audio out you could connect that to the aux in of your head unit but then with that input selected you wouldn't hear any radio, cd, etc. at the same time. Most seem to just let the audio come from the satnav's small built-in speaker.

Assuming your satnav is the right size, you remove your cubby box and mount it from behind the opening (using tape, hot glue or similar) - you don't need a trim.

Spend some time and read all the (easy to find) posts on this forum. All the answers are there.

Dan,
If you go ahead with the new sat nav, I would be interested in buying the existing DVD unit under the drivers seat, assuming you wish to sell and its in full working order-mine isn't!
