Nuisance Phone Calls

Keep getting nuisance phone calls. May be 2 a day ppi 0844 0845 ect; and other crap so I've registered with TPS Which says it stops you receiving unwanted sales calls. So just wondering if anyone used such services and do they work.

Works as long as you never give out your phone number and make sure that you tick/untick (read the form carefully, some are opt in, some are opt out) preferences whenever you fill in any form. The moment you miss one, you run the risk of getting more calls.

TPS works to a degree

but i still receive them, and always tick my boxes and ask people if they give my details to others etc

I get calls, from the same company, and i always ask how they got my number, which they say it on the system, not knowing how it gets on there, or its random number generator, strange how my number is randomly generated so many times and how its not a sales call, but they cant say what they are offering will not cost me anything Confused

Why are they always reluctant to give me their details too Question

They blast the company name out, so you can't correctly hear it Confused

i then ask for the address which they never know, Confused but i tell them they must know it, how do they get to work each day Mr. Green they tell me it will come up on google but i still insist they provide it too me Wink

I ask for a telephone number, which they never have as they are outbound only,

i then ask for their ltd company number for correct identification,

is there a head office, Question

in the head office is there a department that deals with inbound calls Question

is there a email address for head office Question

what's their email, name and surname, so i know who i am talking too Wink

which office they are calling from

how exactly they are given my number Question , is it like a fruit machine that they pull a lever and the numbers randomly appear and they dial it in the phone. Whistle

its randomly generated, how does it know my name also Question and does it randomly generate any other numbers, like the lotto, as its got to be good if it can randomly generate a number and get the name right too Rolling with laughter

nothing better than keeping them talking, when they are on dodgy commission only based wages on a non selling outbound call centre sales job

9/10 times they just hang up, but its fun Censored them off

The preference services for phone and mail seem to work well as I have been signed up to them for years. Just make sure you always tick or untick the box as appropriate when filling in any forms.

I did have a ltd company and there seems to be no way of stopping calls and mail relating to that even thought it is now closed. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Been on TPS for years and always will be, it won't stop illegal calls but its mostly worked for me. If a company calls me the conversation doesn't progress until I have their company name, even if they have to spell it to me several times, I then notify them I'm on the TPS system, they shouldn't be calling me and can they remove me from their database please, I'll be reporting you to the TPS and OSI (I think it is), thanks and goodbye.

Annoyingly 'market research' companies are still legally able to call you, but same treatment, remove me, don't call me again goodbye.

It won't stop the calls but if you want to annoy them, what they really hate is if you say 'sure hang on I'll just get him' and then just leave the phone to one side and carry on with what you are doing, they will hang there for minutes. Twisted Evil

Gentlemen, there is an easier way to stop the calls - or at least enjoy them.

When a nuisance call happens, simply take a cue from the Exorcist and start screaming "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!" over and over and over...

Do not put your number on any online forms, if you have, always put a false number in, if it insists you enter one to get you through to the next section, you can always speak to the company afterwards to get them to change the details if you need to, I use an 01423 360*** number, works well for me. I registered with TPS and get the odd nuisance call.
So I sing to them.

Works for me too, would blasting an air horn down the phone be legal?. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Never used to get many of these calls... until i left BT. Now i get quite a few of them, coincidence? Caller display now, save them as spam in my phone so i can see when they call.

Really annoying when the other half is on night shift, tend to leave the phone off now.

Should be illegal to phone someone randomly, but until the money isn't there it will continue.

There was a guy on the news recently that setup a premium rate phone line into his home and gave that number out, he was actually making money from the calls.
