What should I take notice of when bying

Hi

I'm new here.

I am thinking of buying a Freelander 2 MY 2011 Td4 2,2, it looks realy nice in The pictures but The mileage is quite high, 220 000 km, aprox 137 500 Miles.

Is there anything in particular that is should look at or be worried about due to The high mileage?

Any thing else that I should know to look for, Any specific problems or faults?

I own a Freelander 1 1,8 and av Discovery 1 V8, so I am i Lottie familiar whit Land Rover.

Thanks
Best regards
Palle

Important to check the service history - there is a major major service at about 100 000 miles which includes cam belt change and other stuff. If that's been done properly I can't see a problem, given the age of the car.

Thanks for your anwser.

As I understand that service should be at 150 000 miles, 240 000 km. And fr.o.m. The photos of The service book I Dont think its been done. I'm going to call The shop to find out.

If it's not been done, insist on it a) because you don't want your cam belt to go and b) because it's expensive!

Apart from that, obviously check the operation of anything and everything electrical. If Terrain Response is fitted twiddle the dial and check that the right indications come up on the screen (if you don't know what I mean, read the relevant bit of the Handbook, which is on this site somewhere). At that mileage, it probably hasn't had time to go off road, but it's worth checking for underbody damage if you can. You don't say if it's manual or auto - if it's manual check for clutch slip at speed in 5th/6th gear if you can. Plus all the obvious things you look for on a used car. There shouldn't be any rust, apart from the wheel arch trim, which does distort but is easy to replace. If it has a spare wheel, check it's legal. It doesn't have to be the same size, so long as it's a Land Rover FR2 wheel of some sort.

Its manual.

À little rust by the bonnetlock latch, I talked to the garage that made The services and thy Said they changed The rear Dif last year.

The cam belt service is not Done, it costs about £2000 here in Sweden.

With that level of mileage I would walk away - the potential for some very expensive repairs would be too high for me. As ever in life, something else will crop up and you could be left kicking yourself. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Hi, If you do consider this vehicle I strongly recommend you get the cam belt changed.

Other vehicles that use the same basic engine as the FL2 have different intervals to change the timing belt, namely:-

Mondeo 2.2tdci = 125,000 miles
Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 DI-DC = 75,000 miles
Peugeot 607 2.2 HDi = 140,000 miles

I had my cam belt changed at 135,000 as I could not understand why Land Rover were so confident about the cam belt lasting when other manufacturers weren't...
