fitting powerful uk sidesteps

Just wondering if any one else has had the same trouble as me.
I purchased sidesteps and fitting kit from powerful uk, but I have been having a bit of trouble fitting the rivnuts with the tool provided. For some reason I cant prevent the rivnut from turning with the ratchet as I try to tighten the nut. I now have a partially fitted rivnut which isnt seated properly and is loose. I will need to drill it out.
I have also managed to strip the thread on the first 6mm of the rivnut,
Powerful UK have been really helpful by sending more rivnuts free of charge, they have sold out of the rivnut tool, but are sending me a different model also free of charge.
I was wondering if any one else has had a similar experience.

I made my own tool just searched on net .good vid on you-tube fitting side steps found it after fitting mine .the rivnut is just like a big pop-rivet all you are doing is squashing it when tightening it just make sure you hold it tight in against the hole and don't overtighten .http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic8631.html

I fitted mine without the tool. Just got a long 6mm bolt, some spacers and tightened them in until they locked up. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.
