Is FL2 suspension getting softer?

A local school has a 20mph limit outside with a series of speed humps. I used to be able to bounce over these at 20mph in my previous MY07 TD4 GS without any noises.

I now have a MY13 SD4 XS and at 20mph I get a definite clunk from the front end. Has anyone else noticed a difference between older and newer models?

Can't say I've noticed any diference and I've owned an 07MY, currently own an 11MY and have driven a number of 12MY and 13MY at work and regularly go over speed bumps without issues.

I had similar and they replaced a part on the front suspension, a bush or arm or something, it was on my first FL2 so can't quite remember

I was told at some point recently that the suspension was made slightly stiffer on the MY2013. Can't remember where, been a long day.

Having had an '07 plate Freelander and now a '13 plate one, it does seem firmer over my stretch of speed bumps on the way to work, but I also went from 16" to 18" wheels and 6 year old, 80,000 mile plus suspension to a virtually new one in my new car. Too many variables!

The difference between my MY10 and my MY13 has been down to the wheel size.

I went from a 7 1/2 year old HSE with 64000 miles on to a 6 month old HSE Lux 2013MY, both cars running the same 20" wheels and to be honest I have not noticed any difference what so ever, apart from the new car feeling a little tighter, which it should do being that much newer. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Now booked in with dealer to take a look next Wednesday. Both the old GS and the new XS have 17" wheels with Goodyear Wranglers. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

I have to take speed bumps slower when on the 19" inch wheels, than compared to the 18" inch wheels. I swop summer/winter but the route remains the same and my speeds have to alter depending on wheels.

I recall an earlier thread (hopefully my recall is correct) confirming that the clunk was the wheels/suspension travelling down to the lowest/longest limit very, very quickly.

It is a tad disconcerting initially and it has certainly make me more conscious of not abusing speed.

Well, the dealer has taken a look and says all is well which is reassuring. At least they have looked at it now so if something does go amiss later it will have been reported under warranty.

Had an Evoque on loan while it was in, definitely not the car for me. I would drive it much too fast. Very Happy GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver
