Driver Power Survey 2014

Just picked up the latest issue of Auto Express which has the Driver Power survey results and was struggling to find the FL2 in the top 100 (it reached 73rd last year), I searched twice and couldnt find it then noticed a small column featuring cars placed 101 to 150 and discovered it came 110th! The usual suspects came out on top again - skoda, skoda and skoda. The MG6 came 6th lol!!!

For me the X3 finished in 12th (13th last year) and scored top ten places for performance and ease of driving. All of the other X models finished very badly, X1 came 100th and the X5 came 97th - there really is something special with the X3 Thumbs Up Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit

Glad you are still happy with it.
Surprised at the X1 and X5 scores but I think the X3 almost renders the X5 redundant, they are so similar.

How do you find the suspension on the M-Sport just out of interest? My dad actively avoided the S-Line spec when looking for his A4 Avant and ended up with an SE Technik.

To be fair, the firm suspension on my Fiesta ST is only noticeable at low speeds in terms of bumps etc. Even then the recaro seats absorb it so I don't feel the full impact. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

All the BMW reviews I have seen recommend getting the adaptive dampers which are an optional extra Rolling Eyes
I think they are standard on the M sports ?
Audi S line suspension is infamously hard though.

Absolutely fine, hardly noticable but I find the seats in the X3 much more comfortable and supportive than the FL2 which may help. X3 came 19th out of 150 cars for ride quality and whilst there is an SE without the sports suspension the msport makes a large proportion of X3 sales

Sounds good Thumbs Up I must say I have heard the S-Line suspension is grim so my dad made a wise choice. He needs more comfort at 65 Laughing http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic19481.html LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

The adaptive dampers are an option throughout the range, costs about £900 from memory and yes all the reviews recommend it although I think BMW purposely give them a car with it fitted so that they think that it contributes to the comfortable ride . The Msport comes with dynamic performance control which does firm up the suspension in sports model but in comfort mode it is absolutely fine. Most online reviews recommend getting the 3.0d for more power at a cost of 3mpg! Sounds impressive but so does the £6K premium you have to pay for it
