Huge complaint about the freelander

Why on earth havn't Land Rover put an on off switch on the luggage compartment light? A complete oversight that needs addressing. I am charging up my car battery which means the bonnet has to be left open as there is no way a 240v power lead can be fed to the charger under the bonnet.
This means the luggage compartment light stays on. So I have had to rip it out to disconnect the light so it doesn't have any drain on the battery. Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

I think mine used to switch off after about 20/30 mins.

Or even better, mount it in the roof, with a toggle switch obviously, like Fred has done in his mod. Couple of shopping bags or the like in front of the presently positioned light and the boot is in darkness.

I'd have a go at this mod but a tad scared of cutting into the roof lining. MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

I think the drain of a small light is more than countered by the 4 amps the charger will be topping the battery up with

Drop the plug and wire down the side of the engine to the ground. Bonnet can be closed completely. Aids theft prevention. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

there is a protection tray which goes right under the engine from one side to the other so doing this is impossible unless I missed somewhere Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

I have a ctek eyelet cable permanently connected to my battery and I have one of their extension cables routed here:

That way I can test the battery voltage whilst the car is still 'asleep' and not altering the voltage by waking it up, I can then easily plug the ctek charger into it if I have too.

Getting the multi-meter terminals on the two pins was a bit fiddly so I bought a set of multi-meter fuse adaptor test leads, the end is the same width as the ctek pins, so its quick and easy to get a reading.

Laughing Wish they would take the whole thing at the moment, went to drive a RRS the other week with a view to swapping, stealer reckoned I was in negative equity on the finance Shocked
Selling privately would get me a couple of grand as a deposit so some time this year perhaps as my mileage is now a lot lower so the high mileage I was doing is correcting itself.

As for yours ... Censored Censored Mr. Green

Or if you have the 12s socket or 13 Pin Electrics with the correct plug you can connect the C Tek that way, works a treat.

Agreed, now that LR has made the 12 volt accessory socket in the boot not a permanent live anymore, I plug my CTEK into the 13 pin towing socket.
