A lot of guys on RRS seem to have got some deals with Warranty Direct. They have even dictated their preferred level of cover with wear and tear etc. it seems you have to spend a bit of time talking with them and haggling the deal but might be worth your effort. |

i have gone with the LR Approved Used Warranty with Breakdown for the last couple of years, it might be 」79 per month, over 10 months, but you can cancell it at any time, if you sell the car.

Swmbo has Warranty Direct on her 57 plate, if you go online for a quote usually comes in around 」650-700. Wait a few days and they give you a ring, I haggled down to 」450 」112.50 x 4 months interest free plus also pushed for air con cover, no betterment ( that's the big one as some of there policies depending on how old the car is expect you to pay a percentage of the costs but no betterment means they pay 100% of the claim minus the 」50 excess). Also got something else thrown in but cannot remember what. Have a look on there website as they list all there policies and see which one they are most likely to offer you, mileage and age dependent. Do this before they phone you then you have a better understanding of the policy. Don't take the first offer over the phone when an adviser speaks to you they will start high, it's all about your haggling skills and having a price you want to pay.

I had to call Landrover assistance over Christmas to fix the car after the turbo blew a hose.

I hope that you put a formal complaint in to LRCS afterwards Graeme? This is the sort of thing that they NEED to know about....if you don't bring it to their attention, then they will never know, and subsequently, others will receive the same sort of treatment that you suffered. Did the arsey girl apologise for her attitude once you had proved you were covered? If not, why not? Foraging near Gaydon....

I'd go for AA breakdown cover and warranty. It's not a coverall, but it will take the sting out of most claims.

Legoman - but that AA cover is for only 」500 per claim, parts and labour. That is easily exceeded with a major component failure. The LR warranty covers 」3,000 per claim I believe. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Yep totally right, but 」500 will cover most stuff. As with any insurance, it's the risks you take that any policy will actually cover you, irrespective of the amount. |

At present I have the 3-year standard warranty, but on the last FR2 I took out the extended warranty. Had a few small claims but didn't get my money back, however I thought it was worth it for peace of mind, as some repairs can be very expensive. Less sure about the LR Assistance - it used to be very good, helpful people and comprehensive, but then (about 8 years ago I suppose) it went downhill very quickly and I opted out. Haven't needed recovery (hooray!) recently, except for once with flat battery, and then Green Flag were excellent.
