My guess is that you will need to get a dealer to change the settings. Caravans are a bit more complicated than a bike carrier. There should be a return feed from the caravan to tell the car not to use its own high intensity rear lights or reversing lights when the caravan is attached. Also to use battery charging and fridge feed after start up. You can always try it though, no harm will be done. Good luck. |

That should not be needed if your Doug a simple swap as the car is already programmed.

From what I understand, the tow bar and electrics are dealer fit and not 'factory' fit. As there is an option of twin sockets or 13 pin single socket, there should be no problem in changing to 13 pin as the same services are supplied and the 'plugs' to the on-board electrics should be identical. The system wouldn't know any difference. Inexpensive adapters are available that plug straight into the 13 pin socket, if you want to use a standard trailer that is fitted with a 6 pin socket.

It was a swap from 7 pin to 13 pin. fitted by myself, I never had the previous 7 pin programmed as the dealer said don't bother as it just turns the parking sensors off.
