Hello a scan has revealed the following code:

P0030-13 - which I think means the o2 sensor (Heated Oxygen Sensor)
It says bank 1, sensor 1.

Is this the one on the exhaust - if so is there only one and is there any guide of how to replace this?

My knowledge of diesels' is limited but, if it was a petrol vehicle, I would use my tank of gas down to 1/4 tank, refill up with the best diesel available, reset/clear the code and drive out that tank of gas. If the code reappears I would clear it often and run at least one more tank of the best diesel through it. Just my 2 cents.

Motion, what’s the rationale behind putting diesel in a petrol engine?

@Kage, I think you misinterpreted Motions comment…. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Easy job to take it out. Disconnect the electrical plug on top of the EGR valve. You can see the tail running down to the exhaust.
Get under the car and spray around the sensor with release oil. You will need a special O2 sensor split socket 22mmx100mm to remove the sensor from the exhaust pipe. You could use a long open end spanner but I would not recommend as it is very tight.
Once out clean it with carb cleaner and put it back. See if you can clear the code. If not, probably needs replacing. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

A heated O2 sensor may have two possible codes, one for the sensor performance itself, and one for the heater circuit.

If it's the heater code, and you get voltage on the heater circuit pins at the connector immediately after a cold start, then it needs to replaced (bad heater).

If it's the code for sensor performance, then you can try cleaning it and running higher quality fuel, if you were feeding it Brand X before. Or might just have failed too.
