Battery

Anyone fitted into a second battery in the Freelander? If so where is it located somewhere?

I thought about it but gave up trying to find somewhere to fit it! To be of any real use it needs to be on a split charger and connectable to the other battery. The boot seems to be the only place but it would need some long thick cable going all the way to the front battery. John

Fitting a second battery is a real challenge in a FL2 and after 18 months of looking and head scratching I fitted a Thumpa power pack into the rear compartment It is fully sealed unit using AGM batteries and is supplied with wiring so the the unit charges correctly. The advantage of this type of instilation is that it can be removed to start other vechicles as it comes with anderson plug and jumper cables it is also fitted with cig plugs and the European plug(cant remember its name) as well as 2 pin plug to suit everkool fridges . There are several sizes available I fitted a 60 amp hr model and has more than enough power to start vechicle as well as run my 70 ltr everkool fridge for about 2 days in 30 degree c plus temptures . If you want I will try and post a couple of photos and explain how I wired it
