I have a non-genuine one fitted. its ABS plastic, and the body shop guy said it was good quality.
I fitted mine using the sticky tape as well as using a blob of black windscreen adhesive in the middle areas of the sticky tape (there is a large central hole in the sticky pad). I also used the brackets.
Its going no where. I wouldn't worry about it all.

With regard to the double sided adhesive tapes these are typically used on all makers car badges on bonnets, doors and tailgates, its also the adhesive that holds the side bump strips on doors and the windscreen fitted rear view mirror. So unless you are suffering from any of these trim bits falling off in the heat you will be safe.
.
There is the known maker 3M for this tape and many aftermarket clones; whilst I would use aftermarket for badges etc in the UK; might I suggest that for the minimal expense extra that you source genuine 3M for the spoiler.
.
May I also suggest that you research this forum for fitting the spoiler. You will need 2 thicknesses of standard 3M tape, (removing the film off the first layer ' so its 'sticky to sticky'), as the LR recesses in the spoiler are so deep that one layer of 3M will not 'take' over the whole area and you will see daylight through and the spoiler will not be held tight. Remember to fully T-cut the area before glueing to remove dirt and wax deposits.
.
Kind regards from Fred
