I had the same last year I give it a good spray with silicone oil,taking out one of the screws that holds the lock to the door to get the oil in side the lock failing that I was going to change it (£84)when weather got better but it just started working again.

I have a new latch which I bought for my previous freelander but never got round to fitting.

Could it be voltage ? I'm having some odd things happen with this cold whether which i'm pretty sure will be fixed with the new grounding lead fix.
