FL1 vs FL2

Completed the last of my xmas shopping today Thumbs Up When I returned back to the empty car park I seen a FL2 XS parked one space away from me. Sad me took a snap Laughing dunno if its just me but the car looks very bland Confused It doesnt seem to have as much character as the FL1. Minimal stepped roof, missing a spare wheel Laughing no roof rails. The FL1 could be recognised from a distance front or rear. The FL2 sometimes require a stronger glance from a distance if you spot one on the road Whistle

For the FL1, "character" = dated.

For the FL2, "bland" = modern. Steve

I can see where your coming from NUTs, I sometimes see a black FL1 sport driving around my way and I must admit I do like the look of it Thumbs Up
The wheel on the back with a gate door is a big no no for me had it on my jeep and found it a real pain when in car parks getting the shopping in the back Whistle
But I do like the fact the back tailgate window goes up and down, very handy for the dog in the hot summer... Of course not have it all the way down with the dog in the back just an 1" of so Wink

Fl2 is an altogether different beast. The evolution of an icon Thumbs Up

Does look good Thumbs Up LR did have a guard to stop the pooch running away. One thing I will miss is the drop down tailglass handy for the shopping if a car had parked too close behind you shame they didn't carry it over on the 2

Perhaps the FL2 probably looks 'bland' to the OP because it hasn't got every accessory going bolted onto it. I think the 2 is much improved on the 1.

That Sport looks nice. I think that FL1 in the first picture could do with just a few more exhaust pipes though. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

The red FL2 looks great, just needs some mudflaps and a spoiler to finish it off. Mr. Green

Having had both the FL1 was good in its time and FL2 knocked spots off it and took it to a new league.

I still like the look of the FL 1 perhaps fond memories but much prefer the FL2 - I'm not one for pimping cars anyway - I like subtle style

Still not forgiven the menacing monkeys at the safari park eating the tyre cover to shreds on the FL1

You can't really compare the picture though. The FL2 is standard where your FL1 is modified, so it will stand out more.

Everything is personal choice. Your FL1 looks like a nice one, but too over the top for my liking. If you put my old FL2 next to your FL1, they would both stand out and the FL2 would not look so bland. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather.
