Are 16" wheels OK to fit on my 2007 XS (17"s as st

Hi everyone,

I have a very simple question to the knowledgable on the forum - I am equipping my FL2 XS (2007) with a set of winter wheels and tyres and wanted to know if it is possible to fit 16" rims (standard are 17"). I remember reading that this is not possible on post '10 models due to brake caliper enlargement (?) but as the GS and S TD4 were equipped with 16" as standard, I should be OK?

I won't necessarily use 16" in any case but it gives me a bit more choice in terms if tyre choice.

Many Thanks in advance.

Yep, these are fine, got them on mine for winter. By the way, they fit all diesel models up to MY13 (electric handbrake)

Best fitment we have found is 225/75x16, but some go with 235/70x16. Andy.

I have 235/70/16, didn't know you could go to 75, thought that would be too big and effect the speedo. Learn something every day. Cheers Andy

Only consideration you may have is that if you change the car for a new model at a later date those wheels won't fit. Just bought a MY2013 and was able to keep and fit my spare set of 17" wheels with the Wintracs (since then, it's just got warmer!)

Thank you Andy - I shall check them both. I understand that narrower is better on winter tyres so I will probably go with the 225's as a first oreference.

Any recommendations on brand?

225/75x16 and 235/70x16 are almost spot on in size. Andy.
